The classic 2006 World of Warcraft event The Gates of Ahn'Qiraj is making a comeback for an event scheduled in July. Blizzard Entertainment announced in a forum post that the upcoming event will be returning in all its remastered glory.

Blizzard's community manager took to the forums yesterday to reveal some new content the company had been working on. The post detailed that version 1.13.5 would become live in July, triggering the release of the Ahn'Qiraj content. Blizzard's patch will unlock a weekly quest to craft the Scepter of Shifting Sands on July 28th for all realms within the region.

However, before being able to do the actual raid, players will need to start and finish the quest chain that will allow them to craft a Scepter of the Shifting Sands. Furthermore, the war effort will kick off, which will prompt the players to donate resources in order to progress it.

It will take completing both these activities to be able to enter Ahn'Qiraj. Furthermore, the war effort is realm-based and only the players from the realms that complete it will be eligible for entry. While there are several hurdles in the raiders' way, the rewards should be ample. First of all, the gates of Ahn'Qiraj will open which will offer an event for those present. Going all in and completing the event will yield an exceedingly rare mount. The catch is that the event will happen only once.

Even once the gates are open, there will still be some new content: two new raids, the larger of which will pit players against the Old God C’Thun. Ahn’Qiraj is the penultimate raid tear of original World of Warcraft, and was followed by the undead citadel of Naxxramas.
